Jen Hillenga has been a world-renowned portrait photographer, designer and photography educator for over 25 years. Through rescuing her two pups, Rocco and Nala, she has discovered a passion for connecting to dogs and capturing their unique personalities with her camera. The Ways of the Dog was founded in 2021, when Jen decided to leave her corporate creative director role and go back to her first love of photography but concentrate only on photographing dogs and their humans.

Jen is adept at understanding the personality and language of each dog she photographs and works to capture their uniqueness and your bond with them. She specializes in creating one-of-a-kind, timeless artworks for her portrait client’s homes, or compelling commercial imagery for pet-centered businesses.

Jen’s goal is to help you celebrate your dog and your life together with portrait sessions that are uniquly about your relationship with your dog.
